Harris & Sarah Discipleship Group 03-01-2011

Spending the Inheritance

We feel like one of our primary jobs is to teach Christians how to realize and spend their inheritance. We are convinced that, for the most part, the Church has left the riches of Heaven sitting in the bank, thinking that we only get them when we die and go there. The belief that Heaven is entirely a future reality has reduced far too many of God’s declarations in Scripture about the believer’s identity and calling to “positional” truths that are acknowledged but never experienced. It is time for that to change.

Understanding our inheritance begins with discovering the deeper purpose for our salvation. Many new believers stay immature because they never progress beyond the revelation that they are sinners saved by grace. By progress I don’t mean “to leave behind,” but “to build upon.” Those who progress are those who understand that God’s highest purpose for the Cross was not merely to forgive us of sin. It was so that, by forgiving us on the basis of Christ’s blood, He could invite us back into an intimate family relationship with Him, our Heavenly Father. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (emphasis mine). This legal standing of relationship to God as His sons and daughters is precisely what gives us an inheritance. Romans 8:14-17 explains this simply:

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

The fact that we are heirs of God is mind-boggling. But we must not be content to read these verses and be awed by them. They prophesy our potential, a potential that we must pursue throughout our entire lives. John 1:12 says we have the right to become the children of God. When God invites us into relationship with Him, He is inviting us into a process of becoming, of transformation. This transformation can be measured in our lives because in Jesus Christ we have the model of who we’re becoming as the children of God. We see it later in Romans 8:29: “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” We have the right to become like Christ. We are destined to be fully restored to the image and likeness of God, in which we were originally created.

Through salvation we are also restored to our original purpose—the purpose that flows naturally from our restored identity and relationship with God. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Works cannot save us, but without the fruit of good works in our lives, we lack the evidence that identifies us as a new creation in Christ. Just as God’s nature is revealed in what He does, the evidence that we are being transformed into His likeness is that we reveal His nature in what we do.

What are these good works? It’s too easy to reduce Jesus’ teaching to what is humanly possible. While we love to feed the poor, clothe the naked, and visit those in need (such acts of kindness are essential expressions of the Christian life), we refuse to let them satisfy that internal drive for effective service. He specifically used the term “good works” to describe the miracles, signs, and wonders He performed. Jesus modeled these works for us. He didn’t design a new hearing aid or train a Seeing Eye dog. He healed the deaf and the blind. This overwhelming conclusion about “good works” comes from a thorough study of the Gospel of John. These good works not only reveal Jesus to be the Anointed One, the Christ, they also reveal the specific nature of His relationship with His Father, as He explained in John 14:8-12:
Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us."
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

It can’t be stated more plainly. Those who believe in Him will demonstrate signs and wonders. But even more so, His declaration implies that those who believe will walk in the same kind of relationship with the Father and possess the same anointing of the Spirit as He did. That is, we are called to minister as Jesus ministered because, through His death and resurrection, we have access to everything He had available to Him to do good works. He prophesied this to His disciples and to us when He said, “As the Father has sent me, I also send you” (John 20:21).

You Were Born for the Impossible...

The reason God didn't take you to be with Him when you were born again is because you have the divine assignment to invade the impossible. The reality of the Christian life is measured by the impact of the impossible!

What is going on with ALL the animals dying? My input ...

So... I have decided to give my input on the 40,000 crabs washing up on England's beaches, Mystery over mass antelope deaths in Kazakhstan A mystery disease has killed more than 12,000 saiga antelope in Kazakhstan. ,2M dead fish in MD', 'Hundreds of dead birds found in KY' (this is the second KY bird-kill story this week), and Canadian river turns neon green-experts puzzled', and one truly must wonder what is going on. How can one not? Experts, of course, discount the end time link! but people know that the times in which we are living are not normal.
Here is a Google Map of the animal deaths.

So what IS going on? God is good, that's what. Far from being scared of these times, far from being nervous or even perturbed. He is working in the world: to warn us of our sin, to alert us to His presence, to give us opportunities to reconcile with Him. He is a great God, willing to delay the time when He will judge all flesh. However, He is holy, meaning that He WILL do it. Are you ready?
This is the "Me Generation" and many are completely unwilling to look inward and understand that there are consequences to their actions. Nothing makes this generation squirm more than someone telling them that they will be judged (and found wanting). God is Holy- a notion that completely escapes their understanding or even their ability to contemplate. He gave us 2000 years to come to understanding of our sin relative to His Holiness through the love and sacrifice of His Son.

Lets take a look at what the bible says about this!
Ezekiel 38:20 says "The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground." Everything under creation is affected by sin, as Paul said, 'all creation groaneth'. Fish and birds are included in this. The translation of the word 'shake' in the verse is "make afraid, remove, quake, make to shake, make to tremble." In reference to the bird deaths the most common reason given for their death is stress, which physiologically, can also manifest as fear.
The bible talks about the "Birthing pains"

Are we experiencing the birthing pains of the Great Tribulation or has it already started?

Hosea 4:3 ” That is why your land is in mourning, and everyone is wasting away. Even the wild animals, the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea are disappearing.”

Revelation 8:9 ” A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.”

If it is one of the seals to be opened in the book of Revelation, we need not fear. We know how the story ends.

His word is true! It is alive, real, and evident in His works each day in this unique time of the universe. He is creative, patient, holy, perfect in justice. I take comfort in that. I am looking forward to seeing Him. But until then, I see His work in the world.

Finding your Place of Service!

We have been doing a study on Wednesday nights @ NLCC that has blessed my hubby and I richly! Because of the impact it has had on us and numerous church members ... I wanted to be able to share some of the material we have covered :) Hope you enjoy!

How to View the big Picture!

We know god deoesn't want mindless robots or clones who just "do their master's bidding" out of some sort of duty or obligation; He wants sons and daughters who udnerstand their part in his great plan and who are equipped to serve Him from a heart of love and passion! God is not that interested in church monuments; He is interested in overseeing a Church MOVEMENT!

Scripture look up: Matthew 16:18

Jesus isn't coming back for a weak, divided, strife-filled,backslidden,backbiting,confused and chaotic church; He's coming back for a glorious church (Ephesians 5:25-27) We are all pieces of that church!

I love the way the message puts Ephesians 1 , " ...God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everthing from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from this rule. And not just the time being , but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. AT THE CENTER OF ALL THIS, CHRIST RULES THE CHURCH. The church , you see is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church! The church is Christ's body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence!"

So How do you find a home church that fits you ?

1. Realize there is NO perfect church! Churches are made up of imperfect people- so although you may not be able to find the perfect church, you can find the church that is perfect for you!

2. Make a list of the things that are important to you! Ask yourself practical, spiritual questions when visiting a church.

3.Look at practical considerations - Is the location of the church convenient enough for you to attend and be involved ... i will say this "it's worth the drive to a church that's alive"

4. Look for foundational requirements - A strong Pastor will have a loving and caring heart like Jesus did when he looked upon the multitudes and saw that they like sheep without a shephers. A strong Pastor will be a servant; his attitude will not be that of a dictator, but that of a servant. A strong pastor will teach and preach the bible, not mans ideas, traditions or doctrines.

5. Look for a church that teaches and equips the believers for the work. The church should be teaching and challenging you to grow up spiritually!

Transformation Through Receiving Divine Revelation
Healing and transformation occur as God grants revelation into the heart and spirit of man by the holy Spirit ( Luke 24:32)
This revelation comes as verses LEAP off the page and hit us between the eyes, and from God speaking directly into our hearts by His still small voice, which we can capture through journaling, dreams and visions.
1. Receive Revelation through a "New Truth Bible Meditation" Joshua 1:8
Write a the top of a sheet of paper, "New truth Bible Meditation Concerning _____________." The topic should be the heart issue and or the major ungodly and Godly beliefs you have already identified from above. For example, you may do topics like love and forgiveness versus anger and resentment.
Complete the Following Steps:
1. It is recommended that you look up as many verses as possible on the topic and take notes on what you discover, meditating and praying on each verse, asking God to give you a spirit of revelation (Eph.1:17,18) "lord, show me what I need to see in order to heal the heart issue I am struggling with."
2. Memorize verses which leap off the page, so you can easily draw them forth in time of need.
3. Perhaps you will feel led to read a book or two on the topic
4. Pray over what you are learning, asking God to speak to you and to show you underlying principles which with birth within you a divinely inspired faith and a pure heart. Record the things you are learning.
Summarize this revelation as "Memorial Stone Celebration"
once God has granted you a thorough revelation on the topic at hand, write you summary of what He has shown you . You can use this pattern below:
1. My summary of what the holy spirit has revealed to me from the Bible is....
2. My summary of the insights that the holy spirit has given me through journaling and dreams and visions are ....
3. The symbolic representation which i have created or chosen to memorialize this healing is ...
4. The fences which God has instructed me to build to keep myself from temptation in the area are ...
5. I declare I have been set completely free from the stronghold of _____________by my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
There is more to come in the following days. I pray that this is a stepping stone for you to have TRUE freedom in your life. Please follow the steps above and hold onto your findings! We will be taking about the three steps to RID the Bad topics in your life. We have more questions to answer first ... then you will do you the following process:
Confession
Forgiveness
Cleansing
BLESSINGS,
SARAH

FREEDOM!

My Husband and I just recently finished our Daniel Fast for 10 days. In that time God revealed many exciting things to both Harris and I. One thing that God is working on in my life is "Forgiveness." He is Revealing FORGIVENESS on a totally different level than I have ever understood before ... and it is GOOD!

Before I even Get into all of that... I have felt the Lord tugging on my heart to study FREEDOM in Him!

We all need to resolve personal and Spiritual conflicts in our life! We need to Break free from Bondage and Renew our mind! Let us Experience Daily Victory as a Child of God Daily!!

If you are experiencing any area of Bondage in your life... This Blog is going to help you pray for FREEDOM in your life!

I have been set free from so many things! I am so excited to come along side of you and encourage you to LET the LORD touch your heart!

Before I get started ... We must understand something ...

NO amount of effort on your part can save you and neither can religious activity no matter how well intentioned. We are saved by FAITH and by FAITH alone! All that remains for us to do is put our trust in the finished work of Christ. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9)

To experience our Freedom in Christ and to Grow in the grace of God require repentance, which literally means a change of mind. Repentance is not something we can do on our own: Therefore, we need to submit to God and resist the devil (James 4:7)

The following blogs will help you Get that Freedom in Christ! Submitting to God is the Critical issue! He is the wonderful counselor and the one who grants repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 2:24-26)

I will be covering some issues between ourselves and God! Understand that we WILL NOT experience our freedom in Christ if we believe lies, fail to forgive others as we have been forgiven, live in rebellion, respond to pride, fail to acknowledge our sin and continue in the sin our ancestors, "He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes (renounces) them will find compassion. "Proverbs 28:13

Remember, you are a child of God and seated with Christ in the heavenlies. That means you have the authority and power to do His will. The steps don't set you free. Jesus sets you free, and you will progressively experience that freedom as you respond to Him in faith and repentance.

Our Pastor at NLCC says "We are ministers of Reconciliation" So let us Get firmly rooted in Christ and establish our Identity and Freedom in Him!

My Prayer For You:

Dear Heavenly Father, You are present in our current needs. You are all-knowing, all-powerful, and we worship You alone! We declare our dependency on You, for apart from you we can do nothing. We choose to believe your word which teaches that all authority in Heaven and on Earth belongs to the resurrected Christ! We have the authority to resist the devil and submit to You! Fill us with your holy spirit and guide us in your truth! We ask for your complete protection and guidance as we seek to know you and do your will!

In the name of Jesus ,We command Satan and all evil Spirits to release their hold on us in order for u to be free to know and choose to do the will of God.

We pray against any infliction or pain from preventing God's will from being done in our life today because WE belong to the LORD JESUS CHRIST! AMEN!

Blessings,
